I was commissioned to build a 3D model from a physical prototype. This was so that obtaining renders could be done with more speed and so that we could potentially animate the different parts of the earbuds sliding on and off. I used Cinema 4D, After Effects, and the AE plugin, Element 3D.

Render Tests
____
Once my model was complete, I brought a .obj file into After Effects via Element 3D and messed around with materials and lighting effects. Further down, I played around with the depth of field on my rendering camera's perspective settings.
Below, I'm evaluating the overall silhouette and specular and rimmed lighting effects.
Build Process
____
I snapped a photo with my smartphone as strait on as I could of the headphones I was provided. I measured them and based on the dimensions I captured and confirmed with my client, I built basic shapes out of some Nurbs objects. I used a boole subtract method to knock out basic shapes and grabbed spline points to bend the shape to get the overall dimensions as close to the prototype as I could. I swept a curve along a spline to get the general look of the cord in place. I later pushed and pulled points along the spline to get a smooth, flowing curve. I used other modeling techniques and variations to build the other components. The box buttons and controls were extruded from vector art I received from my client.
